Abstract:

Despite efforts to reduce Central Line Blood Stream Infections (CLABSI), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report there are over 40,000 infections that occur in our hospitals annually. Based on the Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI) National Action Plan, improving CLABSI rates remains a top priority for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This federal call to action was the drive for change in New York to identify and resolve contributing factors for the high infection rate across the state.
