Introduction:

This report describes the findings of an HSE inspection initiative delivered in 2015/16 by inspectors and occupational health specialist inspectors. Its main purpose was to identify any common causes of non-compliance with legislation designed to protect staff from the risk of exposure to blood borne viruses (BBVs). Forty NHS organisations were visited across England, Scotland and Wales (HSE 2016).
