PICC excellence in cancer care

Extract:

“Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) have become indispensable tools in modern oncology care, providing reliable vascular access for the administration of chemotherapy, supportive medications, and blood products while allowing for frequent blood sampling without repeated venipuncture. For cancer patients facing months of treatment, these devices represent both a clinical necessity and a constant companion throughout their cancer journey. Despite their widespread use, the management of PICCs in oncology settings presents unique challenges that demand specialized knowledge and careful consideration of both clinical outcomes and patient experience. This editorial examines the current landscape of PICC utilization in cancer care, highlighting the critical intersection between evidence-based practice and patient-centered outcomes”.
