"This study aims to see whether, in this context, omission of prophylactic platelet transfusion increases the risk of CVC-related bleeding in patients with platelet counts 10–50 × 109/L" Aggarwal (2024).
Platelet transfusion before central venous catheter placement

Extract:

“A lack of good evidence for the safe platelet count for invasive procedures in patients with thrombocytopenia has led to conflicting recommendations of platelet targets between 20 and 50 × 109/L.1-6 The routine use of ultrasound in CVC insertion has reduced bleeding complications,7 and some studies have shown a harmful effect of platelet transfusions. This study aims to see whether, in this context, omission of prophylactic platelet transfusion increases the risk of CVC-related bleeding in patients with platelet counts 10–50 × 109/L.”
