We have come a long way in improving patient outcomes in the areas of catheter-related bloodstream infections and deep vein thrombosis prevention” Brazens (2016).

Abstract:

The Association for Vascular Access (AVA) is entering its 30th year. AVA has worked diligently to improve the specialty of vascular access and has seen vast improvements over the years. We have come a long way in improving patient outcomes in the areas of catheter-related bloodstream infections and deep vein thrombosis prevention. As we continue to tackle these complications, I hope that we continue to focus on vein preservation, as well. Every access attempt comes with its own set risks both long-term and short.
