Abstract:

Standard healthcare waste management is an essential element for strengthening infection prevention and control programs and controlling healthcare associated infections. Improper handling of sharps and infectious wastes pose serious risk of occupational transmission of hepatitis B, C, Human Immune-deficiency Virus and other infections. This study was conducted to improve competency of the Healthcare Workers (HCWs) and assess their compliance to standard healthcare waste management for promoting wellness, preventing illness and building safer world.
