Kimal has issued a field safety notice recalling specific lot number of PICC catheters containing a valve manufactured pre 15 July 2014. Use of the affected catheters could result in an increased incidence of haemolysed blood samples which may require additional peripheral access or replacement of the PICC catheter. This affects specific lot numbers only of the single and dual lumen catheters supplied through NHS Supply Chain’s blue diamond route as FSU344, FSU346, FSU348 and FSU351.
