“Through the establishment of a subcutaneous tunnel, there is a certain distance between the catheter exit and the vascular puncture point, and the catheter outlet can be transferred to a more suitable and favorable position, which can reduce the risk of catheter slippage and infection. In September 2021, a severe elderly patient with laryngeal cancer complicated with lung cancer with difficult venous access was treated in our hospital. There was a risk of tracheotomy at any time. PICC catheterization in both upper arms was limited. Tunnel PICC catheterization through subclavian vein was used in medical and nursing cooperation.”
