With the leadership of an infection prevention practitioner, an interprofessional team was formed that is comprised of front line nurses, vascular access device nurses, physicians, nurse educators, and administrative nurses to decrease central line utilization, improve central line care practices and eliminate CLABSI throughout the hospital” Mason and Suresh (2017).

Background:

Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infection (CLABSI) is one of the challenges clinicians face at a southern California community hospital where it remained significantly high despite employing the evidence-based central line care bundle practices. With the leadership of an infection prevention practitioner, an interprofessional team was formed that is comprised of front line nurses, vascular access device nurses, physicians, nurse educators, and administrative nurses to decrease central line utilization, improve central line care practices and eliminate CLABSI throughout the hospital.
