Decreasing hemolysis rates through phlebotomy education

Abstract:

The purpose of this project was to investigate the impact providing phlebotomy education to ED staff has on lowering departmental hemolysis rates. The clinical gap that currently exists is a lack of formalized phlebotomy training for ED staff. With a lack of formalized training, a knowledge deficit exists in ED staff that are unaware of the issue of high rates of blood specimen hemolysis.
