Vascular access team achieve zero CLABSI for over twelve months


Intravenous news: The Nursing Standard report “A hospital trust that introduced daily inspections of patients’ catheters by a nurse-led vascular access team has eradicated infections. Andrew Jackson intravenous therapy nurse consultant at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, introduced the daily checks in 2009. The infection rate dropped from 0.85 infections per thousand catheter days in 2009 to zero in February 2011.”
