Intravenous literature: Nomides, N.B., Hopfner, D., Riegel, B. and Fakih, M. (2011) Interventions to Prevent Temporary Hemodialysis Catheter-Related CLABSI. AJIC: American Journal of Infection Control. 39(5), p.E53-E54.
Central line associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) has been a primary focus for Infection Prevention at St John Hospital & Medical Center. In 2009, we identified a potential cluster of CLABSIs related to temporary hemodialysis (HD) catheters in our adult intensive care units (ICU). This provided an opportunity to collaborate with other disciplines to address catheters in the HD patient population, and improve process measures to prevent infection.
