Abstract:

This article summarizes drug properties frequently used for intravenous anaesthetic induction. The mechanism of general anaesthesia is still unknown, hence physicochemical properties, metabolism and side effects are often more relevant than the way that the way they act to cause unconsciousness. This article also highlights new developments in drug administration and some newer agents.
