In order to design an improvement plan specifically for ambulatory CLABSI reduction, we investigated ambulatory CLABSI and assessed central vascular catheter (CVC) care practices” Owings et al (2017).

BACKGROUND:

Pediatric oncology patients receive central line care and treatments as outpatient. Ambulatory central line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) is a major complication of healthcare delivery in the outpatient settings. In order to design an improvement plan specifically for ambulatory CLABSI reduction, we investigated ambulatory CLABSI and assessed central vascular catheter (CVC) care practices.
