Abstract:

Hospitals are required to validate methods used to report the number of central line (CL) days occurring monthly to the National Healthcare Safety Network. Because observational methods for determining the number of CL days are time-consuming, hospitals are seeking alternative methods. We conducted a study to validate the accuracy of a daily report of the number of CLs generated by an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
